Marvel Heroes is about to reinvent itself as Marvel Heroes 2016. And it’s even 2016! What a coincidence!

Launching today, the upgrade will download for free to everyone’s client; it includes the new story chapter, console controller support, Deadpool’s revamp, a new team-up, steam achievements, the first wave of character visual updates, leaderboards, and the latest playable toon, Black Cat, who brings the game’s total up to 55. The Mac client also leaves beta today.

Gazillion Studio Director Jeff Lind writes, “What we’re launching today is just the beginning of what will be the biggest year yet for the game. Our awesome community expects regular updates, and they’ll continue to get those – but it’s the big content drops like today’s first wave of the Marvel Heroes 2016 initiative where the game will really shine. You’ll see these throughout the year, and the best announcements are yet to come.”

Stay tuned next week for a more in-depth look at the game’s 2016 initiative, and bide your time with the enormous new batch of screenshots, infographic, and videos below. (Seriously, this is how you do assets.)
