Final Fantasy XIV prepares UI backup features while weathering more DDoS attacks

It's hard to stop a train.

There are a lot of different client-side settings that can make jumping between platforms for Final Fantasy XIV somewhat more difficult. You play one way on your computer at home, but then your friend’s computer doesn’t have everything set up the way you like. What do you do? Well, as of the next patch, you take advantage of the upcoming interface backup feature, which allows you to sync up a saved file of your preferences with the server and then download it locally, ensuring that your interface is the same across the board, wherever you play.

On the less-positive side of things, it appears that the game is getting hit by DDoS attacks again, this time at what director and producer Naoki Yoshida calls a heretofore unseen scale. The team is hard at work teaming up with the internet providers and working to mitigate these attacks, but if the game seems a little laggy or you’re having connection difficulties… well, that’s why. It’s ongoing.
