Artist Frelling Hazmot is doing all right these days. He’s paying back debts and making do with a rather substantial income. It’s a far cry from where he was in September 2016, when he found out that one of his designs was going to be officially put up for sale as part of Warframe’s TennoGen program, a system allowing artists to design elements for the game and then be sold for money. And the whole story is, well, pretty excellent.
It’s a testament to the utility of the program, the enthusiasm of fans, and the community surrounding the game as a whole; he went from being unable to find meaningful employment and subsiding on assistance to being able to afford what he needed, pay back his debts, and start thinking about the future after his first Syandana scarf took off in popularity. It’s probably the happiest thing you’ll read about a space ninja scarf all day; that is probably a narrow category, but it’s a happy story even if it’s also the only space ninja scarf story of the day.Source: PC Gamer; thanks to Winterskorn for the tip!
