Naoki Yoshida wants to collab with Blizzard to bring Diablo and WoW to Final Fantasy XIV

Good car, bad game.

As any Final Fantasy XIV fan can tell you, the game is known for its bevy of crossover events that range from the logical, such as crossovers with other games in the Final Fantasy series, to the unexpected, like its collaborations with Monster Hunter: World, Yo-Kai Watch, and GARO. But even those slightly less predictable crossovers ultimately make sense — all three are all immensely popular in FFXIV’s home country of Japan — but Game Director Naoki Yoshida is open to broadening those horizons.

In a recent interview with PlayStation Magazine, Yoshida discussed which non-Square Enix games he’d like to see crossing over into Eorzea, and his answers were somewhat unexpected: If he had his way, Yoshida says, he’d like to work with Blizzard to bring the Diablo and World of Warcraft universes into Final Fantasy XIV. Apparently Yoshida’s a big Blizzard fan, and he even went as far as to say, “if Blizzard ever approached [me], you know, saying, ‘Oh, hey, we want you to take the reins to develop Diablo 4,’ oh, I’m gonna drop everything I’m doing and I’m gonna go for it.” While that’s probably not exactly in the cards, it may not be too farfetched to imagine Jaina or Thrall paying a visit to Eorzea sometime down the line.
