DC Universe Online is offering free access to episodes through February 7

Super deadery.

The anniversary event for DC Universe Online has arrived, as the game has turned nine years old and is celebrating with a whole lot of gifts for players. But if you’re a newer player and/or playing free, you might have missed one of the gifts being put forth for a limited time: Episodes 1-35 of the game’s content are free now for all players, meaning that you can play through a hefty chunk of story content from the game’s nine-year history without needing to spend a dime.

Of course, you’ll need to play with some speed, since the episodes are free only through February 7th. Still, it’s a chance to explore the story in no small amount of depth, get some extra experience, and at least get a solid glimpse at what amounts to the back issues of the comic before setting up a recurring subscription. That’s a pretty solid way to celebrate an anniversary. You should also check out MJ’s recent stream of the anniversary festivities.

I hate episodic monetization. It’s completely garbage and always feel like nickle-and-diming.

A temporary release won’t improve DCUO.

Treat it like a forced sub mmo with a pretty generous trial then.
Either way when I hit the level cap some four months ago I ran into a brick wall because nobody was queueing for the first tiers of instances in endgame, and after not getting a queue to pop after 3 hours I found something else to play.
