Guild Wars 2’s Super Adventure Box festival is finally live (check out the new SAB raptor skin!)

Way back in 2013, Guild Wars 2 dropped an April Fools’ Day patch so epic it literally won our team’s award for best expansion or update that year. Yes, I’m talking about Super Adventure Box, which is live today in the game after a bit of delay, though without a new World, just “new secrets to find in the Box, a new meta achievement reward and a new set of weapons to collect.” Oh, and an extremely awesome pixelated SAB-themed raptor skin. Do want.

“Tyria’s bounciest celebration returns on April 14. Get ready for Super Adventure Festival! Asura genius Moto is the creator of a spectacular virtual world filled with educational opportunities, fun adventures, and spike traps. Once a year, he opens his Super Adventure Box for a round of rigorous gameplay testing, with special rewards for supporters. If you enjoy jumping puzzles and exploring, the Super Adventure Box is your playground.”

As we’ve previously noted, this year the goofy, platformy festival will run an extra week this year, until May 12th.

MOP’s own Game Archaeologist just did a lengthy piece on the history of SAB if you’re wondering why MMO players all collectively lose their minds whenever this festival opens.
