One Shots: Avoid these vacation destinations

When you’re planning your summer MMO vacation, there will be a lot of places bidding for your time and gold. But not every resort is vengeful spirit-free, and not every tourist trap promises that you’ll come back with all of your limbs.

To help you avoid the worst places in games, our readers scouted out some vacation destinations that you’re really going to want to skip in 2020, such as any time you see a haunted church sinking in to the ground.

“In Fallout 76’s drowned church with a dramatic story you find out if you take the time to read the scattered lore,” said Lethia. “It’s horrible and it’s a cursed place to stay away from — although it’s very pretty.”

Josh shows the aftermath of a poorly planned holiday in what I think is Black Desert: “Considering the Red Paladin reception my Dark Knight received outside of Tarif, I feel like it’s likely not the greatest of tourist destinations.”

“There is something so much fun about roaming around old places in World of Warcraft — Suramar to be exact! — hoping to find treasure and adventure but then looking up and seeing a giant spider looking down at you! Ewwww!” said Toy Clown in the ichor-soaked diary pages left behind.

And if you think that Star Wars single-biome planets are nothing but exciting adventures, you may want to give this autumnal-themed world a skip.

Iron Salamander reports: “In Star Wars: The Old Republic, Voss is pretty nice to spend your vacation at if you hang around the main hub. In the wilderness? Not so much.”

Now that we’re all having flashbacks to our worst vacations ever, Minimalistway takes us to a more sophisticated place full of rumination and loogies.

“This random moment, I’ll admit, reminds me of my childhood. I did that on a pedestrian bridge once. I hit one car before running away.”

I guess I’m not the only one who takes screenshots of interesting NPC quotes and conversations. If you’ve captured some pictures of characters saying something interesting, funny, or significant, share it for this week’s screenshot challenge. Or you could just dazzle us with your best pics!

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
