Kritika Online seems to keep coming back like a bad penny. The anime action combat MMO:
- First landed on western shores in 2017 until En Masse shut it down two years later.
- Came back in 2019 as the self-published Kritika:REBOOT by ALLM before it got shuttered in February 2022.
- Resurfaced again in June 2022 as an NFT shade of itself, but that prospect went the way of all crypto games, followed by a brief return to Steam without the NFTs but with a horrid cash shop; the Steam version incidentally can’t be played anymore but the MMO is still available for direct download and is still getting some occasional patches.
But hey, maybe the fourth time is the charm. Valofe has apparently gotten the rights to publish the game on its VFUN platform as Kritka: Zero, which promises to “relive the magic fantasy of old players, and renew the magic revolution in other worlds” while the devs work on “perfecting new maps, new dungeons, and PVP, strengthening players’ interaction, reducing fatigue, and fine-tuning numerical value.” And no, it doesn’t appear to have any associations with NFTs, crypto, or blockchain. That we know about, anyway.
Timing for the release of this fourth edition of Kritika hasn’t been confirmed yet, but a teaser trailer promises the game will arrive soon. Whether anyone is ready for this or not.
