It’s time once again to take up several sub-genres, toss them in a pot, and whisk until they smooth into a new title. This time the ingredients are the multiplayer FPS, RPG, and survival game, with a sprinkling of voxel sandbox visuals and ray-traced graphics to create Voxlands.
“Voxlands invites you to embark on a voxel adventure like no other, where every action shapes the narrative, and the voxel landscape becomes your canvas for both creation and destruction. Get ready to explore, fight, unravel, destroy, plunder, survive, and build your way to greatness!”
Players can look forward to a crafted landscape dotted with mutant threats and an overlying mystery surrounding a corrupting ooze, while gameplay blends FPS gunning, RPG questing, and survival mechanics like managing hunger and building shelter in either solo or co-op play. Voxlands will also feature an in-game editor that lets players craft their own realms complete with unique gameplay and quests.
Voxlands is headed for early access at some time in the future, but interested players can get a taste when a new demo releases during Steam Next Fest between February 5th through the 12th. Multiplayer will not be available during this demo, but it will offer selectable levels and scenarios that showcase the voxelbox’s suite of features. Until then, there’s a gameplay trailer and a gallery of images below.
