Final Fantasy XIV’s Dawntrail peak player concurrency has apparently topped even Endwalker’s

going so fast like a... whatever

In case you were still wondering whether Final Fantasy XIV’s Dawntrail was a hit with MMORPG gamers, wonder no more, as apparently the game has set a new post-ARR peak concurrency record, not that we’re being told exactly what that is.

“I would like to thank you all for your patience and cooperation in dealing with server congestion during the early access for Dawntrail,” Square-Enix’s Naoki Yoshida told gamers on the the Fourth of July. “With your support, we were able to reach a record number of concurrent users we’ve not seen since the release of A Realm Reborn in 2013.”

Granted, those numbers have not come without trial, as plenty of players have encountered few issues when it comes to queues and access to Dawntrail. This is not the same as no players. Xbox players, for example, have had to deal with a major freezing issue, and PlayStation users have faced some network issues along the way. So to help ameliorate the issue, everyone is getting some free game time. All players are getting two free days added to their subscription, with Xbox players getting an additional eight days of bonus time. That’s not nothing.

The developers are also keenly aware of job balance adjustments needed along the way. Some of these adjustments are relatively minor, like the fact that Black Mage changes have made recovering MP between pulls prior to the addition of Umbral Soul far more difficult. Others are bigger issues, like how busy Viper’s rotation can feel or some incorrect potencies for Monk. The developers have addressed several of these issues with changes planned for patches 7.01 and 7.05. So if you’ve been having an issue, check to see if it’s on the deck for improvement.
