Fractured Online invites everyone to play free for nine days as it drops a big summons and dailies update

Kickstarted MMORPG sandbox Fractured Online has been out of early access for three weeks now – and it’s already heading into its second free-play promotion.

Readers will recall that at the end of July, Dynamight Studios ran a community-oriented trial, granting keys only to players organized in guilds and groups. But this free-play weekend will not only allow everyone in without a key but last a full nine days, longer than the original trial.

“The Free Week will start on Friday, August 16 at 1pm UTC,” Dynamight explains. “Everyone will be able to play by signing up here on fracturedmmo.com and downloading our standalone launcher. The event will end on Sunday, August 25 at 8am UTC. That’s more than 9 days of free play! After that, everyone who wants to continue playing will be able to buy the game on Steam or through our store.”

The event coincides with the release of the game’s “first major content update” since the proper launch; players can expect new summonable creatures, new emotes, a minor balance pass, and the “adventurer tasks” dailies system.

“Adventurer Tasks are a system akin to the ‘daily quests’ found in many MMOs but more respectful of your time, since they can be accumulated so they don’t ‘force’ you to login every day. In this first iteration, Adventurer Tasks consist of missions that ask you to defeat monsters, from the weak Goblins to the mighty Jotunns. Each quest can be completed by hunting in a specific area of a continent, and can come in 5 difficulty levels. The maximum difficulty can only be obtained by rerolling (see below). The harder the quest, the better the rewards!”
