Star Wars Galaxies Legends expands the Galactic Moon Festival for Halloween 2024

One of the oldest – and goofiest – MMORPG Halloween events has returned today thanks to player-run Star Wars Galaxies rogue server SWG Legends: The Galactic Moon Festival is upon us.

For those who don’t know, in-universe, the Galactic Moon Festival is supposed to be a galaxy-wide bash thrown by none other than Jabba the Hutt himself. “In an effort to gain more support from the planets Naboo, Kashyyyk, and Tatooine, Jabba the Hutt has decided to throw the annual Galactic Moon Festival once more so everyone can celebrate the horrifyingly awesome haunts of the season,” say the patch notes. “Jabba has grown tired of all the love festivals, celebrations of life, and other saccharine events. Thus, he has taken it upon himself to throw the scariest festival of the year.”

The content is pretty extensive for any MMO, let alone a rogue server, as the player devs have continued to expand its content; this year, expect three seasonal heroic dungeons, the Dead Tree Ghost raid, world bosses spawned by Jabba himself, live events, multiple quests and collections, a swimming race, and new-this-year cosmetics and deco too.

Fun fact: This is the event where you can pick up the best/worst backpack in the world, the Stinky the Hutt backpack! When I checked in earlier today, I also spied what I think are new items: two Cantina band plushes and a glowing Jawa eyeball mask. Not too shabby for a 21-year-old MMORPG that technically died in 2011, right?
