Ultima Online’s second update for New Legacy is here with new tameables and the Forsaken Bloodline dungeon

Broadsword hasn’t been overly chatty about Ultima Online’s New Legacy alternative ruleset server since it launched last fall, but the studio has been busy indeed: The roadmap in January suggested New Legacy would see its second update this spring, then we learned the game’s longtime producer was relinquishing her post, and then we got word that New Legacy is coming to Japan, which is still one of the game’s largest playerbases. In fact, most of what we knew about this spring patch came from a podcast in March.

Well, we don’t have to speculate anymore because New Legacy’s second big patch dropped yesterday. Most notably, the update introduces legacy heirlooms tied to your chosen “family”; the Vesper Antiquity Hunt, which turns players into archaeologists and treasure hunters seeking artifacts for the museum; the new tamable Draalwyrm, Ossidrial, and Shadowmane pets; and the Forsaken Bloodline event and dungeon.

“With this release to New Legacy we want to outline how the deployment process will work for this and future publishes,” Broadsword says. “Publishes to New Legacy will go live and there will then be a week long ‘evaluation’ period. During this period there may be unintended issues that may result in changes or rollbacks. We do not expect these to be common nor frequent but wanted New Legacy players to be aware. We look forward to hearing your feedback and thank everyone who has participated in forging their new Britannian Legacy!”

Oh yeah, and remember that Japanese New Legacy shard? It’s live today!
