There is plenty of cross-pollination between Warframe and Destiny 2, even above and beyond the fact that both are multiplayer looter shooters. Even so, there’s a rather touching little memorial to Digital Extreme’s title in honor of fans of Bungie’s shooter.

Warframe creative director Rebecca Ford confirmed on Twitter that a unique honoria (aka title in the game’s weird parlance), “Make Your Own Fate,” will be earnable by completing a special alert mission on the planet Telesto. More details are planned to be revealed soon, but the alert itself is set to go live on Wednesday, June 17th.

The reference is twofold here: The term “make your own fate” is a line used in Destiny 2 multiple times, while the location of Telesto is a callback to a fusion rifle of the same name in Bungie’s FPS. It’s also not a surprising nod from DE, as Ford openly mourned the maintenance moding of D2. “Destiny was and is a force of nature. […] There is no Warframe without the legacy of Bungie games,” she wrote at the time.

As one might expect, the response to this classy move is being celebrated both among D2 fans and devs. “Extremely common Rebb W,” wrote one Redditor. Shout out to Warframe folks sending kind words and love to Guardians. Love seeing communities sharing stories and love for their games,” remarked Bungie comms manager Dylan Gafner. Eyes up, Tenno and Guardians.
