The big centerpiece of content coming to World of Warcraft with patch 9.1.5 on November 2nd is actually an event full of old content, because it’s time for Legion timewalking to arrive at long last. There’s even an official preview of the event available on the official site promising new toys, mounts, and pets available during the event in exchange for Timewarped Badges. There’s also the return of the Mage Tower, giving players a chance to take on a tough challenge without temporary power-ups to earn a special set of cosmetic gear.

Speaking of cosmetic gear, do you like the existing starter gear available for various races when you start a fresh character? The bad news is that gear is going away when patch 9.1.5 launches in favor of new sets of starter gear. The good news is that Blizzard has promised to make the old gear available for players in some form, which is especially important as the gear in question is of white quality (and thus not available for transmog). Here’s hoping for either cheap vendors or just some transmog options.

Activision-Blizzard is considered a controversial company in the MMO and gaming space owing to a long string of scandals over the last few years, including the Blitzchung boycott, mass layoffs, labor disputes, and executive pay fiasco. In the summer of 2021, the company was sued by the state of California for fostering a work environment riddled with sexual harassment and discrimination, the disastrous corporate response to which has further compounded Blizzard’s ongoing pipeline issues and the widespread perception that its online games are in decline. As of fall 2021, multiple state and federal agencies are currently investigating the company.
