This week in MMO crowdfunding news, Derek Smart reminded everyone that he exists. Not that he’s crowdfunding an MMO or anything, but he did have plenty to say about Star Citizen and its chances for realizing the lofty goals set by developer Cloud Imperium.

And of course MassivelyOP commenters had plenty to say about Star Citizen and Derek Smart. Some other news happened as well, and you’ll find a roundup of it just past the break.

I like to understand the perspective of critics, so I check out their work. I’ve already mentioned how I checked out Mr. Smart’s writings, only to be quickly convinced I want nothing to do with him. But, since I hadn’t played any of his games, I didn’t know if he had any gaming credibility.

So I checked out the video and reviews of his early access game on Steam: Line of Defense.

I’ll let you check it out, as well, and form your own conclusion.

What he said was indeed a lot… A lot of nothing. Everything he had to say on the matter has been said much, much more eliq


Massively should be paying smart for generating comments and views. Maybe they should give him a column. They could call it get smart.


Derek Smart and his cult followers surely put a lot of time talking about a game they know will fail. 

Soon nobody gives a shit about DS anymore, and we just get the next troll in line.
