Blizzard’s Battle.net has officially expanded to be a little more social

DO YOU NOT LOVE US?!

All right, so rebranding the Battle.net app didn’t work out as well as Blizzard had hoped. But the company remains bound and determined to make the app something you use on the regular rather than just your World of Warcraft launcher, and as a means to that end the developers have added a new Social tab as rumored. Now you can more easily organize your friends and merge them into the new Blizzard Groups feature.

What are Blizzard Groups? Well, they’re… a lot like chat channels in some other app out there that a lot of people like. But these are more Blizzard-y. You can also customize your avatar and profile, like… well, like that other app we mentioned. And you can gift people things in your favorite Blizzard games, which is… well, that’s uniquely suited to Battle.net, seeing as how it ties all of the Blizzard games together. And Destiny 2, which is coming out shortly on the PC. Pure coincidence, we’re sure.

From a company who still thinks I am a customer because I have a battlenet account.

Appear Offline mode WINNER!

Sometimes I just want to shoot, stab or otherwise mutilate things after I have had one of those days. Probably best for all of us if I do it in a game . No I don’t want to talk about it ;-)

Sir, I’m going to have to ask you to please step away from the keyboard and mouse! The number of cyber casualties you’ve laid waste to has become a criminal offense!

Guess I’m going to be anti-social since I have Battle.net close out automatically when I launch WoW.

Works for me, the group feature could be quite handy in my friendship-circle.

Given the choice, I’d take the old launcher over this Battlenet crap any day. It was faster, cleaner and a lot less cluttered. It didn’t constantly spam me with offers about games I don’t play and was just a lot better overall. Until such time as the new one is as good as the old one, I won’t be using it.

I was wondering what all those new buttons on top of the launcher where for…

*Pokes at one of the buttons*

…oh, this one serves coffee! o.O

Playing with it this morning they have alot of work to do if they wanna catch up to and compete with discord.

Also seems you cant upload your own images as avatars which is awkward. Its also harder to invite ppl into it compared to discord as you need to friend some on bnet before you can invite them. As well its regional like the rest of bnet.

Which they really need to put in the work to undo that regional shit because not only is it excessively archaic, its been a pain in my rear for the past week coordinating ppl not yet on my list for destiny lol

LOL, I wish I could comment on their ridiculous attempt to copy discord, but I cannot.

might workj with my guild and our friends on massively to coordinate bnet games now and then when people cba to check.

but beyond that it’s not even remotely going become a central hub for our community.

They’ve also finally added the ability to appear offline in RealID.

Presumably so you can play Destiny 2 without your guildmates finding out :)
