We’re just a month away from BlizzCon now, and as it’s the biggest last gaming con of the year that we focus on, we’re as excited as you that Blizzard dropped the schedule of events last night.
Like the last few years, there’s a deluge of esports stuff, but the panel lineup for World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo, Hearthstone, and Heroes of the Storm is also a bit predictable. Aside from the What’s Next panels, which are always worth watching, the most interesting bit is the Restoring History panel for WoW, which will focus on WoW Classic. The WoW Q&A is a necessity too, if only to see what goofy things the team will say live this year too.
It’s possible that Blizzard is hiding some of the panels, of course, in the lead-up to a big reveal. It’s also possible that, as Blizzard Watch half-heartedly proposes, Diablo’s coveted position as the first What’s Next panel immediately after the Opening Ceremony heralds a major announcement other than the teases we’ve already seen. “Typically, the panel that comes after the opening ceremony talks about the big highlight of the event, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that 2018 is finally the year of Diablo,” BW’s Liz Harper writes.
It could be worse, of course: StarCraft II’s What’s Next panel got bumped to day two.
But personally, my hopes are no longer up for anything dazzling at the con, particularly for Diablo, which was my own first Blizzard love. How about you?
