Ship of Heroes and City of Titans share character creation test results

As you may have known, over the past month both City of Titans and Ship of Heroes have released their respective character creators to their backers, allowing fans to whip up their own creations. In the case of Ship of Heroes, they were also able to take these heroes into a combat-free game world for some exploration and (of course) costume contests.

The dueling — or is that dualing? — City of Heroes spiritual successors expressed joy at seeing players romp around with these new tools. City of Titans hosted its first official costume contest, awarding the top prize to a truly scary Dio de los Muertos-themed hero.

Over at Ship of Heroes, the character creator beta saw 50% more participants than in past tests, with 85% of all available testers showing up at some point to make their own costumed crusaders.

“Most players jumped into the city after they created their characters. We saw two kinds of behavior then,” the Ship of Heroes devs reported. “Some just ran around for perhaps 10 minutes, while others spent several hours exploring the city and testing features, talking to NPCs, and searching for the Beta Club entrance. Quite a few players created a single character, but the average was approximately two characters per player.”

A combat beta for Ship of Heroes is slated for Q1 2020.

You can check out our first impressions of both City of Titans’ and Ship of Heroes’ character creators in Massively OP’s Into the Super-verse column.
