The Daily Grind: Which MMORPG has the best music system?

A few weeks back, I was swapping my SWG Legends character to a new class when my five-year-old daughter started begging me to swap to the Entertainer class on the screen instead of the Munitions Trader I was actually picking. That led to a whole session where I logged in my actual Entertainer and proceeded to let my daughter flip through all the songs and flourishes and dazzle effects as my Ent and her holograms banged out tunes on the nalargon, bandfill, and mandoviol. She’d never played an MMO with a real music system, so even this antique system from 2003 blew her mind.

Of course, Star Wars Galaxies is in good company these days, with MMOs from Lord of the Rings Online to MapleStory 2 (sigh) adding full-featured music systems over the years. LOTRO’s is particularly famous for its in-game concerts, and Black Desert’s new music system is pretty luxe, but I think I’ll always be partial to SWG since it’s much more embedded in the game’s loop.

I wanna hear from our readers, though, and especially about the more obscure music systems: Which MMORPG has the best music system?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
