WoW Classic trumpets the start of the Ahn’Qiraj war effort

It may be strange to consider, but the 2020 opening of Ahn’Qiraj in WoW Classic may actually be a bigger deal than it was back in vanilla. It’s certainly building up to be the event spotlight of the year for Classic players — and now it has begun.

As of today, the server-wide war effort to gather resources and undergo difficult quests to trigger the actual Gates of Ahn’Qiraj opening event begins. “You’ll need to work alongside other members of your faction to contribute the resources needed open the ancient citadel’s gates and begin your siege on the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj and the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj,” Blizzard said.

When the event finally concludes, two raids will open up for Classic players to plunder.

Over in regular World of Warcraft, Blizzard is handing out one-day suspensions for players abusing the group finder with advertisements. The studio is also sending personalized infographics to Shadowlands alpha testers regarding their accomplishments and bug reporting during that phase.

And remember that story earlier this month about how the legendary WoW raiding guild Method imploded due to all sorts of ugly allegations of sexual harassment and assault? Well, many ex-Method members have formed a new guild, Echo, to charge into the new expansion.
