EVE Online has evolved. You could say it EVEvolved, but that would be stupid; nobody intelligent would make that joke. The point is that there’s been an update to the spaceship sandbox that seeks to make the game more performative in a variety of ways.
These performance enhancing updates include a new sound prioritization system that doesn’t try to render every single sound in an area, making for less CPU load and clearer audio cues in a fight; support for AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-SYNC graphical improvements for those who own GPUs that support the technology; and several improvements to the Photon UI. These updates along with some quality-of-life changes are outlined in the patch notes.
Additional performance improvements are coming down the pike when Uprising lands in November: Players can look forward to better turret sounds, new factional warfare music, support for AMD FidelityFX upscaling, and object instancing. Before then, the weeks leading up to Uprising promise more quality-of-life updates to the ship maintenance array and battleship volumes. Finally, further updates after that point like introduction of the Doppler effect for sounds, better shadows, and multithreaded rendering are also in the works.
