So here we are at the dawn of another Black Friday, and in spite of the fact that I really hate the FOMO nature of this day and the whole week really, I’ve been socking some money away for all fall for this season’s inevitable gaming sales.
Of course, I have some rules. If it’s on Steam, it has to be deeply on sale and already on my wish list – no impulse buys if I can help it – and it has to be something I’ll play in the next year. Likewise, I have a list for my buyables in LOTRO and Guild Wars 2, too; for LOTRO, I’ll try to buy points when they are effectively on sale so that I can use them for sales all year, and for Guild Wars 2, again, it has to be something on my list that doesn’t often appear for sale. (I still want a noodle cart, ArenaNet. Take my money!)
But not everyone plans these things; some folks just sit back and don’t jump until a sale grabs them, and that’s OK too – as long as your Steam library isn’t judging you. Do you budget your Black Friday MMO and Steam purchases? How do you decide what to get and when?
