If you’re a PlayStation player staring mournfully at the formal launch of vampire survivalbox V Rising – and its 1.0 Ruins of Mortium content update – on PC earlier this May, then cheer up, little vampire, for your time is almost here. No, literally: Stunlock Studios announced today that the whole shebang is launching on PlayStation 5 on June 11th.
“PlayStation 5 owners can finally sink their teeth into V Rising in its final form. Step into the shoes of a newly awakened vampire, construct your gothic castle, and explore an open world teeming with danger with seven regions to explore and 57 bosses to best. Hunt for blood alone or unite with a clan, battling alongside fellow vampires online. Rise in power and face the ancient tyrant Dracula himself in a showdown of epic proportions to rule the night. Partnering with Sony and with additional support from Auroch Digital, Stunlock Studios has focused on creating optimal PlayStation 5 gameplay with UI improvements, as well as DualSense game controller support.”
The base game on PS5 runs about 40 bucks, minus the 10% preorder discount; there’s also the $59.99 Castlevania edition and the $99.99 complete edition if you’ve got money burning a hole in your pocket. Preorder players also get in five days early.
Incidentally, not only did our own previewer find the launch patch fun as heck, everyone else does too: The game has seen a huge Steam PC resurgence since launch, nearly meeting its original 150K-player May 2022 concurrency peak with 132K peak players in May – along with 77K reviews in the “very positive” tier.
