Today is the day when NetEase’s Marvel Rivals cross-platform closed beta kicks off and it’s come with a bit of a surprise in the form of two new characters: Thor and Jeff the Land Shark.

The new character additions were unveiled in a trailer presented during San Diego Comic Con, which really has to be seen to be believed. The presentation also offered a first look at the narrative that ties the whole competitive shooter together, along with several name drops for the game’s voice talent and music composition, including Troy Baker as Loki, Yuri Lowenthal as Spider-Man, guitarist Godspeed, and Video Game Orchestra founder Shota Nakama.

The cross-platform beta is running on PC, PS5, and Xbox X|S from now until August 5th. Now it’s time to let the Land Shark sing.
