One of the bright lights of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live was the reveal of a new NetEase multiplayer title called Floatopia that is clearly coming for the Animal Crossing franchise’s turf. As of today, we’re finally getting more information about the game as NetEase drops the floodgates.
NetEase calls the game a “brand-new life simulation game where players get to live in a world of superpowers and whimsy, making friends and visiting islands floating in the sky” and “live their best life in the sky.”
“Residents of Floatopia will encounter countless surprises and new discoveries in this adorable world – from beautiful farms and quaint fishing holes to cozy campsites and homes. […] Players will set sail on their very own island while exploring various fantasy lands, each with its own unique culture and breathtaking landscapes from deserts to ice fields. […] Players will use superpowers to farm, fish in the sea of clouds, fly through the skies, catch and collect charming animals, and even change the weather at will. Players will also design their own unique island and home using tons of themed decorations. […] As players meet and make new friends, they will share in moments of joy! They will visit each other’s islands, invite each other to build things together, throw epic parties, dance, and revel in music.”
Launch is expected in 2025 on the PC, Switch, PS5, Xbox X|S, and mobile too. Pre-registration is already live on the official site.
