You can still play your old Nightingale characters offline even after Realms Rebuilt launches

We’re just two days away from the launch of Nightingale’s Realms Rebuilt, which is less an update and more a full-scale revamp and reset of the early access multiplayer sandbox. Ahead of the September 12th release, Tencent’s Inflexion Games has posted a blog on how exactly the legacy mode will work, for those of you who don’t want to zoom along into the future.

“Legacy Mode is a way to access and play the pre-Realms Rebuilt version of Nightingale, also known as version 0.3.2, and will be available starting September 12, 2024,” the studio explains. “If you want to continue playing your current (pre-Realms Rebuilt) character after the update, you can in Legacy Mode! As this is meant to be an archived version of the game, it will not get further development such as new features or bug fixes, and only single-player Offline Mode will be available – but you will be able to transfer your Online characters[.]”

To keep playing in this offline legacy version of the game after the patch, you’ll have to toggle on the “nightingale-0.3.2” build in Steam’s beta tab (or EGS’s library) for the game, download your character’s save, and then play in offline mode. It’s a little bit complicated, so you’re definitely going to want to read the whole instruction set for your platform.

“As long as you don’t delete your characters from the game before the update, both Online and Offline character saves will still be available for you to access via Legacy Mode directly (Offline characters) or be available to download from our website (under ‘Archived’),” the team says. Oh yeah – and make sure you back up everything just in case.

Inflexion is planning a Q&A stream and preview of the update on YouTube tomorrow, September 11th, at 1 p.m. EDT:
