Today saw another Live Letter broadcast from Final Fantasy XIV, which was once again all about the MMORPG’s first post-Dawntrail content update, Crossroads, along with a release date for the first portion of the patch: Tuesday, November 12th.
The stream provided some looks at Patch 7.1’s expected features such as the first set of new main story quests, Yuweyawata Field Station dungeon, and several pieces of raid content from the first Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid tier to the next extreme, ultimate, and unreal trials as well as the chaotic version of the Cloud of Darkness fight.
There will also be a host of PvP-specific updates that change damage in Frontline and Rival Wings, adjust a pair of Crystalline Conflict maps, and shift Crystalline Conflict rankings to be per region rather than per set of servers; ranked matches will also be held in one data center per region.
It also covered several smaller content additions and quality-of-life updates as well, including more mechanic training for the Hall of the Novice tutorial series, some more graphical tweaks, the ability to copy character settings like HUD layouts to other characters, and an outfit feature that lets players store specific sets of level one gear as a single outfit in the glamour dresser. Last but not least, there were previews of several new weapon skins (check out those food utensils), raid gear sets, and mounts.
The stream also confirmed release timing for the MMO’s 7.1x patches and their content additions: The ultimate version of Futures Rewritten lands on November 26th, custom deliveries and Hildibrand quests arrive December 17th, chaotic Cloud of Darkness opens December 24th, and more role quests arrive on January 21st.
