“Our journey will never end” is a lyrical refrain from a few songs in Final Fantasy XIV, and that proves to be true once more as the MMORPG has officially launched Patch 7.1: Crossroads to continue the story told by Dawntrail and introduce new high-level content for players to charge in to.
The update was heralded with the full patch notes, which fill in some of the blanks left in the preliminary patch notes as usual. We spot several buffs and action changes to the Dark Knight, Black Mage, Machinist, and White Mage jobs, as well as a lengthy list of gear items that can now take advantage of the two dye channel system.
The new patch also adds the first part of the new Final Fantasy XI crossover alliance raid and harder versions of the fight against Sphene and Byakko, while other high-end content will arrive in subsequent weeks like the new chaotic Cloud of Darkness fight and the next ultimate difficulty raid, along with new role quests, Hildibrand quests, and custom deliveries for those who aren’t eager to run the bleeding edge of raid content. Finally of note is a whole slew of PvP adjustments and new rewards that begin the new seasons for Crystalline Conflict and PvP Series 7.
