World of Warcraft is adding a third tribute to Mats ‘Ibelin’ Steen in the form of an NPC in patch 11.1

Hey guy.

There are already two memorials for the player Mats “Ibelin” Steen, a World of Warcraft player who suffered from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, within the game. The first is a tombstone in Elwynn Forest, and the second is the charity pet based on the player. But there’s a third one coming in patch 11.1, as datamining has uncovered Lord Ibelin Redmoore getting added to the game with the patch. And yes, he looks like Steen’s character as immortalized within the documentary made regarding the player’s life in-game.

It’s not yet known how Redmoore will be implemented; it seems unlikely he is going to be, say, an NPC targeted for assassination, but the datamining doesn’t say where he’ll be located. But it’s another tribute to a player who clearly made a big impact on both the community and the developers. So keep your eyes peeled for Lord Ibelin Redmoore, wherever he may be. He will probably be keeping an eye out for you, being something of a detective himself.
