Early access VR MMO Ilysia announces public testing of its ‘largest update ever’ on January 15

It’s been a few months since we heard any major peeps out of Ilysia, the early access VR MMO being developed by Team 21 Studio. And while the game has been making updates over the course of last year, the largest of which came last October, things are apparently ramping up for what the studio calls “[its] largest update ever.”

Tomorrow, January 15th, is when the game’s next big update will go live on the Lavea PTR. Details on the content of this big ol’ update weren’t shared, but members of Team 21’s dev team will be on-hand for a livestream on Discord at 1:00 p.m. EST on the 15th to discuss what the studio has been working on and what it would like testers to focus on, with an upload to YouTube promised shortly after. The PTR will also be available to download during the broadcast in order for players to prepare beforehand.

For those who don’t recall, Ilysia promised VR players a return to “the glory days of MMORPGs” with activities like climbing, fishing, crafting, exploration, and plenty of combat along the way. The game opened a Kickstarter in 2020 that raked in over $150K, then followed through alpha and beta test phases, though beta tests were delayed multiple times and then arrived without the major freeforge class feature. The game finally made its early access release in 2023 and has been putting out patches ever since. …and also an energy drink.
