Guild Wars 2: Dragon mounts in War Eternal, living world mini-event, Ritualist outfit datamining, and new short story

Guild Wars 2 is getting yet another mount: the Skyscale.

As detailed by Eurogamer today, what sets this particular dragon (yes, sorry everyone, it’s a dragon) apart from the griffon, the flying mount acquired through Path of Fire, is that it can actually generate altitude. As Linsey Murdock puts it, it’s “more like a helicopter” than a “jet engine,” though apparently it can also climb and wall-jump: “The Skyscale can actually stick to the wall and regain some of his endurance and then jump up and gain some altitude.” And naturally, it breathes fire too.

So, when can you get your hands on this lil guy? Soon! Specifically, in the final episode of the current living story, which as ArenaNet announced last week is called War Eternal. Time to starting working up your tolerance for flappy wings, folks!

Meanwhile, Guild Wars 2’s patch today has fixed bugs, added a new skimmer skin, released S4E3 for free to all players (head into the cash shop to grab it), and kicked off a mini event tying in with the living world:

“Disturbances in the Mists have opened rifts in certain locations around Tyria. Enter the rifts and defeat Branded Riftstalkers to close them!”

Update
Dataminer @that_shaman has plucked out some tasty goodies coming in future updates from the files, including a sweet Ritualist outfit that’s a clear port from classic Guild Wars. Take my money, Anet.
