The Daily Grind: Are you looking for reasons to *not* play MMOs?

Earlier this week, I was chatting with MOP’s Chris about Conan Chop Chop when he mentioned that the game is surprisingly intense. “It will spank you,” he cautioned me, noting it’s best played with friends. That bummed me out a bit; I had been hoping it would be a couch romp I could play with my kids on the Switch. I mentally pushed it off in my mind, feeling like I no longer needed to buy it right away, in spite of wanting it for the last several years.

Then again, I also am planning to let Guild Wars 2 begin taking up all my time with the launch of End of Dragons next week anyway. So I don’t really need another game on top of that, and I realized I was looking for reasons not to buy Chop Chop. I think I was doing the same with Lost Ark the past few weeks too, since I’m knee-deep in LOTRO with Guild Wars 2 already preordered and right on the horizon.

Do you do this too? Are you looking for reasons to not play or buy MMOs?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
