It’s pretty much a given that every year when we announce our MMO of the year, someone’s going to hop into the comments and say, “Well actually, that MMO is totally overrated.” I’d be disappointed if someone didn’t do that, frankly. And I can’t really be mad about it; some of our winners this year I also think are super overrated. That’s, like, just your opinion, man.
So that brings us to our annual poll, in which we solicit your opinion on which MMO you think is exhaustingly overrated. MMOs that have “won” this poll in the past include World of Warcraft, Black Desert, New World, Lost Ark, and Diablo IV. If I hadn’t put D4 on the list, Final Fantasy XIV would’ve “won” last year. And WoW and BDO have “won” multiple years – though not so many recently.
We’re limiting the poll to just a handful of major MMOs, live MMOs, launched MMOs (not indies; we’re not punching down here). Which MMOs were just excessively overrated beyond what they deserved in 2024, specifically?
