One Shots: How to go blind in one easy step

As someone who only has one functioning eye, I find that my vision is paramount to my quality of life and personal enjoyment. Plus, it would make playing MMORPGs slightly more difficult if everything was dark.

But I’m not everyone, and I have to allow for the possibility that there are gamers out there who are desperate to lose their sight but at a loss as to how to do it. With that in mind, I present SmugglerSteel’s one-step process to going blind in 10 seconds or less: Find the largest sun you can in Star Wars: The Old Republic and stare at it from about 20 feet away.

At least the last thing you’ll see will literally brighten your day!

“After the initial excitement of Secret World Legends’ relaunch, I stopped playing for a long time, leaving my poor Templar agent forever stuck in Blue Mountain hanging out with a Sasquatch,” sent in Jake. “But now with the start of Season 2 I’ve returned with the hope of (maybe) getting all the way through Tokyo so that I can see the long-awaited new content. Here is my character rocking some of my favorite ’80s-themed cosmetics from the original game.”

Reader Koshelkin went on a “little exploration tour of Pandaria” in World of Warcraft and filled up a folder full of screenshots. Out of them, I chose this one as the most eye-catching. There’s something about in-game murals and wall art that fascinates me, because it’s the game artists trying to show off a different aspect of certain communities.

Last week’s screenshot challenge for pictures showing off the “golden hour” in MMORPGs generated some beautiful pictures, such as Toy Clown’s snapshot of a Black Desert sunset.

“Does BDO ever have a Golden Hour!” he posted. “There are a few in-game hours where the game world is awash with vibrant oranges and reds as the sun begins its descent.”

Where do dragons sleep? Zulika Mi-Nam found out: “Still poking round in Neverwinter. Lots of dragon stuff going on there.”

Any time I see impossible architecture in MMORPGs, it makes me think way too much about the construction of such places. I’d really love to see the epic tale of how these dragons worked together to set up this bone-strewn structure!

I really love the idea of going on a screenshot expedition to take pictures around your favorite MMO zone, so why don’t we make that this week’s challenge? Drown us in pics of your tour!

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
