Want to try Legends of Aria? We’ve got trial keys just in time for the closed beta 2 launch!

It’s a big day for indie MMORPG Legends of Aria, as its second closed beta official kicks off with a server wipe and a juicy patch. CB2, as we’ve previously covered, revamps the game’s art, adds detail to the cities, adds a diurnal cycle, backer rewards, new encounters, better shops, a more realistic map, new tameables, saddle storage, new music, secure house trading, crafting orders, the dungeon revamp, and better fast travel.

“It feels like a different game, and we need to gather as much feedback as we can to get things just right for Open Beta and the Early Access launch,” Citadel Studios’ Derek Brinkmann opines in his letter to testers today, and that is where you come in: The Aria team wants you to test and has ponied up a bundle of trial keys to get the MOP readers in and playing. Click the Mo button below (and prove you’re not a robot) to grab one of these keys!

No keys left! Sorry.

To redeem your code, just follow the instructions on Legends of Aria’s redemption website. There are no regional restrictions on using the code, but Citadel cautions players that “if you can’t use PayPal in your country, you won’t be able to transition to a paying account.”

Do note that these are seven-day trial keys, meaning you’ll have a whole week to try out the game, at which point you’ll need to upgrade to a founder pack if you want to keep playing during this test phase. You can basically do everything in the game except create your own server, so there’s no gated content.

Also worth noting is that the open beta is still on schedule for the end of summer, followed by a final wipe, early access, and the trek to Steam, which could be as early as this year, so now is a good time to take a peek and help shape the final product.

Standard giveaway notes: If there’s no captcha or Mo button and all it says is “No keys left! Sorry” in big letters, then we’re out of keys. If we get another batch from the studio, we’ll send out a note on social media. Having problems with the captcha not working? Try an alt browser or clear your cache. And finally, hang on to your code! If you lose it after all of our keys are given out, we cannot retrieve it for you.

Good luck and have fun!

After playing for 5 minutes I can conclude that it’s a 3D copy of Ultima Online with very poor engine optimization. Time to uninstall for the same reasons I uninstalled UO – boring concept.

It might’ve been cool in 2001, but now now. A modern take of it would make an MMORPG so engaging that everyone will go crazy about it. TES3 Morrowind fanboys are crazy about that game, I played it, it sucked less than TES5 Skyrim, but still nothing special.

FYI, download is ~3.3 GB single file. Also, their password strength suggestion is a little nuts, but you can hit a checkbox to override it:

Hint: The password should be at least twelve characters long. To make it stronger, use upper and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols like ! ” ? $ % ^ & ).

Also says no NDA (Closed Beta II (No NDA)), in case anyone needed to know.

Which password is that? When I redeemed my code it sent me an e-mail, I followed the link from the e-mail, it asked me to set up a password, I set up an 11-character password that was deemed to be “strong” and I had no errors. Are you speaking about another password elsewhere?

Nope, that quote was verbatim from the page where you set up the password. My password was 9 chars and had all the other items and was listed as a weak password. There was a checkbox to continue with the weak password. 12-char password is a little beyond the “norm” of 8’ish characters, just a little weird that they suggest such a long password.

Yeah, I hate when some services require me to have weird passwords and even after I comply during the registration, I can’t change them later.

Few that come to mind:

Opera sync requires 12 symbol, no less, which sucks, later on you can’t change it
Trion’s Glyph account requires a symbol like !. @, etc. and you can’t change it later
Tantra Online’s registration requires such a specific password it took me literally 12 months to figure it out – last summer I wanted to try the game for old time’s sake, couldn’t register, complained on the forums, the admins told me off, I gave up, this summer I tried harder and I ended up having to copy some example password that went something like:

“j^a(d10K&_’m<;

absolutely idiotic… I don't know why would people do that. It's not like someone will go around stealing accounts on a trash game like Tantra Online… Even for Opera and Glyph I don't accept it, it's crap.
