The EVE Online-themed board game has finished out its Kickstarter this week, pulling in roughly $682,000 US from backers – not that there was ever much question that it’d fund as it actually met its $54,000 funding goal in under an hour on the first day a month ago.
The EVE: War for New Eden board game, developed by Polish studio Titan Forge in partnership with CCP Games, was first announced last summer and then demoed at EVE Fanfest last fall, though looking back over the original timeline, we see the Kickstarter itself was a delayed a quarter – that it it made any dent in player anticipation. The unlocking of every stretch goal demonstrates that.
“EVE Online’s player-driven narrative, intricate economy, and stunning visuals are represented in this board game, offering a blend of classic 4X strategy elements and Euro-game mechanics,” the studio say. “Players command a diverse fleet of starships, each meticulously crafted by Titan Forge, and delve into the intricacies of interstellar politics, resource management, and tactical combat.”
If you missed out, you can apparently still make a late pledge through Kickstarter, and if you do, pore over the options carefully because this is not just a basic game and it would be incredibly easy to drop several hundred bucks here plus shipping; there are multiple expansions (in different sizes) in addition to the core box and tabletop toys.
