Star Citizen kicks off an updated Jumptown event and highlights more alpha 3.23 UI updates

Old salts of Star Citizen are probably familiar with Jumptown, a hidden drug fab that developed into a PvP hotspot that was then repurposed as its own dynamic event in alpha 3.16. The Jumptown event has further evolved from 2.0 to 2.1, which launched over the past weekend and is still running for fans of snagging illicit goods for profit or bounty hunters ready to gun down law breakers.

The numerical update designation obviously means the Jumptown event has seen some changes, such as a new drug lab located in Daymar and updates to existing labs in Wala and microTech. The event is also rotating the location of where goods are being manufactured, so players will have to keep their eyes peeled to know where to go. Jumptown 2.1 events will be kicking off every day from now until April 15th at 12:00 p.m. at different locations for approximately 23 hours.

In other SC news, the weekly Inside Star Citizen digest is once more focused on alpha 3.23 UI features, primarily several updates to the mobiGlas UI (in some cases; several mobiGlas apps have not been updated to new tech yet), a look at a better performing star map, and feature previews for the in-game holomap like new navigation functionality.

Longtime MMORPG gamers will know that Star Citizen was originally Kickstarted for over $2M back in 2012 with a planned launch for 2014. As of 2024, it still lingers in an incomplete but playable alpha, having raised over $650M from gamers over years of continuing crowdfunding and sales of in-game ships and other assets. It is currently the highest-crowdfunded video game ever and has endured both indefatigable loyalty from advocates and immense skepticism from critics. A co-developed single-player title, Squadron 42, has also been repeatedly delayed.
