The revised version of Final Fantasy XIV’s expansion benchmark is going to be a little delayed, it turns out; an article has gone live on the official site stating that Dawntrail’s revised benchmark will be going live on June 3rd. According to producer and director Naoki Yoshida, it was just a natural outgrowth of finding a late-hour bug that led to some program instability, and while that has been fixed, it meant pushing the launch over the weekend that was less than ideal for many reasons. So fans will need to wait for next week, but the plus side is plenty of previews of the changes made from the prior version.

As the team continues working hard at getting the graphical update just right, the feedback from players enabled the team to find instances of incorrect textures, problems with how the lighting engine was rendering certain areas, and the like. It also includes an update to lighting in the character creator that removes limb darkening and allows characters to be shown in a more natural light. Check out the full rundown ahead of the benchmark’s release next Monday, a second run at making sure your characters look up-to-date when the expansion hits early access on June 28th.
