![Guild Wars Have you heard?!](https://massivelyop.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/guildwars1-b-696x229.jpg)
A few weeks back, MOP’s Chris and I were talking about Path of Exile 2’s forthcoming Witch character and griping about the way a lot of games handle pets when I had a realization: While I love the idea of pets and especially of running around as a minion master, I freaking hate when they die.
For example, I have probably a dozen Masterminds in City of Heroes now, and I love them, but the pets are built fragile. They’re not really meant to fully tank everything. Which means that at higher levels and difficulties, I spend a huge portion of my playtime re-summoning and rebuffing them after they die. Which is incredibly annoying!
On the other hand, when the character is more like a summoner constantly building a rolling army that’s meant to die (or even can function as a suicide bomber), that I find really amusing. I got a lot of fun out of this type of playstyle in Guild Wars 1 specifically thanks to the Necromancer and Ritualist.
How about you? Would you rather have disposable minions or true pets with an MMO pet class?
