Kickstarted sandbox MMORPG Fractured Online is finally, officially out of early access

Fractured Online has been through a whole lot over the last few years, from its Kickstarter campaign to its Gamigo-backed early access, then to its escape from Gamigo and back into beta, then back into early acess again. Today, the indie MMORPG sandbox enters its live era with its official launch as of this morning. The release follows last week’s major update to the game, which overhauled the PvP ruleset to reduce griefing and make both PvP and non-PvP playstyles more viable.

The launch does come with a bit of bad news: The original legacy server, called Genesis, will be offline for a few more days, even as the fresh-start server, Elysium, opens.

“This hard choice was due to technical issues with our multi-server stack that came up during stress testing, which are forcing us to launch with the more robust and well-tested single-server stack we’ve been using so far,” Dynamight Studios says. “We are working hard to fix these issues and improve the performance of the multi-server stack and hope to be able to reopen Genesis within a week from launch. Everything in it (farms, maintenance, etc) will be frozen in the meantime, of course. The rewards for Genesis players will also be delivered soon, with some nice unplanned surprises compared to the original plan.”

Last night, the devs did pop in one last pre-launch bug fix touching on divine rewards and the Trial of Galvanos.

Thus far, the game – which runs $15 on Steam – is sitting in the “mixed” review bin with pretty low Steam user counts, though significantly higher than they were over the course of most of the early access period. Happy launch day – at least if you’re on Elysium!

Launch update from the team on Discord:

“Fractured Online has officially launched out of Early Access! There are about 300 players in the game right now, but a lot more will be coming once the content creators start streaming tomorrow and later in the weekend! We got a report that some of you were missing the VIP time coming from your Founder Pack. Indeed, some accounts (mostly from the gamigo days) didn’t receive it. This has been fixed, everyone has the due VIP days now! If you don’t see it, just relog. Also, we have just restarted the tutorial island #1 which was experiencing some issues, and we are now investigating the bug some players experienced of not being able to leave the tutorial from the stargate. If this happens, you just have to logout and log back in and it will work, but if you have time, please send me a PM before you do so. It will greatly help us figure out what the issue is, since we haven’t been able to reproduce it for now.”
