The Daily Grind: What’s the best MMORPG for getting your character super drunk?

Fallout 76’s dev blog a few weeks ago about its upcoming brewing and distilling skills – which are actually surprisingly detailed – got me thinking about this topic. It’s been sort of a running gag in many MMORPGs over the years to include not just the consumption of alcohol but some sort of penalty for doing so. In Ultima Online, you doubled over and spammed *hic*. In EverQuest, it was possible to get so drunk that your screen was a blurry mess and you could legitimately fall to your death from the effects. (Ask me how I know this!) And so on.

Ironically, I’m currently maining a chef in my Star Wars Galaxies emulator of choice, so last week I cranked out a couple dozen crates of potent alcoholic buff beverages – none of which have any side-effects, sigh. (That was saved for spice!)

What’s the best MMORPG for getting your character super drunk? What’s the most amusing side-effect, and how often do you play around with it?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
