The Daily Grind: Which MMO beta (or alpha) made you the happiest?

Betas used to be a huge thing for me. I was deeply envious of those who got into testing when I was left on the outside, while an acceptance letter into a beta was akin to getting a full ride to the university of my dreams. Getting in early to test World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, and Star Wars: The Old Republic back in the day made me feel tremendously special.

Now, not so much. I have too much to play these days that I don’t necessarily have time for betas (and alphas), and I’ve learned the hard way that I would rather experience a fully launched game for my first time without datamining and testing spoilers.

I’m curious: What beta or alpha made you the happiest to be among the playtesting crowd? Which was the most satisfying and gave you the best memories?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
