One Shots: Fashion patrol coming your way!

Well that is certainly one way to fill up the comments section with tons of screenshots: asking all of you to show of your best and boldest fashion! We had a virtual fashion show last week in the One Shots comments, and here are my personal favorites of the bunch (although most all were tremendous).

First up is UpayaBlossom, who brings some springtime cheer into the dour setting of Secret World Legends. “Oooh… fashion show? I was born ready for this!” she wrote.

Here’s a weird thought. What if all of the enemies in video games were adorable people and we played as the hideous monsters? What kind of fashion would we sport then?

Rafael12104 had a bunch of outfits from Blade and Soul (of course), but I did like this one: “My Force Master Taliee shows off her fashion sense. She is wearing a magnificent outfit I call the Pink Trove (from the treasure trove). The dress is a perfect fit for days out on the sunny and scenic Soulstone Plains.”

And what weird world is this where Rafael shows us something pink but Utakata is completely devoid of it? Shocking!

“Galaxy Mint makes her flying entrance where her sleek outfit that’s all the buzz over the setting of Paragon City in City of Heroes,” she writes.

“This week I started again in Fallen Earth, a game where I spent hundreds of hours years ago,” said Rees Racer. “I’d almost forgotten how gratifying it is to craft every piece of clothing and ultimately every weapon and vehicle in the game… sometimes the effort taking many days. Later on, helmets, armour padding, goggles, etc can be made. But early on, it is not terribly hard to put together a duster, leather pants and moccasins to get properly and appropriately started in a post-apocalyptic Grand Canyon.”

“I think one of my favorite outfits in any game is still the one I have my EverQuest II Mystic in,” shares Katriana. “It’s part of why I use it for my avatar pic. This is the full picture I clipped the avatar pic from, showing her posing with her pet spirit wolf Ghost.”

Ready for another MMO screenshot challenge? Show us a picture of an area in game that you feel is just really well designed — it’s layout, visuals, function, and general enjoyment factor. Tell us about why you like it so much!

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!

If I have to pick one zone it’s Kingsmouth, it’s just so atmospheric and really sets the mood for what’s the come in the game.
And yes, even though it is the SWL 1st anniversary event I am wearing the TSW 1st anniversary shirt because TSW is the game that made me love this world.

Well designed? Ok.

How about Celestial Basin in BnS. It is the quintessential dailies area at the moment.

Now, hang on. Before you tune out knowing the drudgery that dailies can be, there is much more to Celestial than meets the eye. It also incorporates entry to legendary dungeons, one of the hardest raids in the game, and a vendor that allows you to purchase, with earned in-game currency, upgrades for weapons, badges, and other items you need as you prep for end-game.

But wait, there is more. Approximately every 30 mins or so, the weather changes, it begins to rain, and a World Boss shows up for fun and prizes. And there is a secret Treasure Room if you feel the need to discover it.

So, there you have it. A scenic yet very functional area no matter what your opinion of dailies might be.

Hmm. Ok. Maybe one more. This one is a bit off the beaten path.

Having trouble with a raid or dungeon boss? Need a little practice or maybe just a parse? Welcome to the B&S training room.

What is cool about a room that allows you fight most major bosses in game solo or duo with a tank? Well aside from the obvious training aspect, the room changes in ambiance and background depending on the boss you are dealing with.

But be careful. Even though you choose the boss you play with, he or she can still scare your weapons right out of your hands.

Oh, <3! While I don't play BDO anymore, Altivova was a very wonderful city where I spent a good deal of my time. Mostly, as BDO lacks fast travel, the sight of Altinova in the distance usually meant a successful… whatever it was that we were doing.

This spot was gorgeous– in Valencia just across the river. It was a quiet, out-of-the-way spot to rest between grinding.

Since LOTRO is what I’ve been playing most lately, that’s what I have recent shots from. Not sure if these entirely fit the theme, but one thing I’ve loved about the design of LOTRO is the various vantage points they provide that give you great vista views of the countryside around. I’ve previously posted shots taken from atop Weathertop, one of the good vista points, the pictures below were taken from the top of the giant statue of Elendil in Lake Evendim zone, showing panoramic views of Annuminas, Tinnudir, and other ruins in the area. There seems to be no other reason for them to let you get up there than to be able to take in the scenery.

For me, the layout and visuals of Gridania will always one of my favorites in FFXIV. I will admit, it is mostly for nostalgic reasons. This is where I first started, my first dps class, my first crafting class. How everything from the crafting halls to the Grand Company HQ to the Adventurer’s Guild has such amazing detail, you often miss it on your first run through. I would include more shots, but alas 8 it is :)

I still have not been playing much other than Conan Exiles lately, so more Conan Exiles is what you’ll get!

Finally built some guard towers around our base to deter people from climbing in willy-nilly during raid hours. If only I were allowed to set the guards to aggressive outside of raid hours…

I’m rather enjoying the new Umbra’s Courtyard area from the recent Warframe update. Liked it so much I ended up spending about an hour taking action shots with Excalibur Umbra. And yes, I made him purple. That’s just how things ended up. Fashion Frame is a helluva drug.

Off-topic this week because I played SWL’s Last Train to Cairo storyline for the first time last night and wanted to share my pics of kicking Saddur’s ass.

That was a very satisfying moment in that game. I have my own collection of shots from that scene as well.
