The Daily Grind: What are your fall MMO plans?

After a brief August lull in the crazy launch cycle that’s been 2021, we’re looking to ramp back up again with a lot of fall releases. There’s Elyon, New World, FFXIV: Endwalker, SWTOR: Legacy of the Sith, LOTRO: Gundabad, Book of Travels early access, and more.

Personally, I feel overstimulated when I look at everything that’s being crammed into the next few months because I want to play All The Things. Of course, that’s a really great problem to have and nothing that’s going to make me cry too hard.

What are your fall MMO plans? Are you going to jump on one or more of these new releases, or are you all about sticking with your current game?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

If I’m not dead from The Plague, hopefully Warframe’s New War will fill my days and nights with murderous glee…

Gonna keep going through msq in FFXIV. And will probably check out the EA for MO2 and hopefully later this year some corepunk. I was planning to play elyon as well but after getting sick of the game in about 2hrs of playtime last beta I cancelled those plans. New World maybe but it’ll be wait and see for me.

New World and Lotro.

New World as a solo player unless I stumble over a really good guild. Can’t wait to play an MMO with 50 ping (Sydney server). Will probably focus on crafting and set myself up with a town house with a balcony, an outdoor chair and watch the world go by.

Lotro lifetimer who will happily explore Gundabad after really enjoying the story in the last content drop. I have a kinship that feels like a comfortable pair of slippers and will keep raiding with them while playing with Brawler, the new LI system and any other challenges thrown at us.

Nothing worth playing. Gonna work on albums instead. Maybe next year something will jump off.

Crowfall September Dregs and October Dregs. After that it’s really up to them to impress. Probably not full time as I’ve largely maxed out a lot of my crafters and should be set for resources after a week or so. Hard to say cause they’re adding objectives from all time zones so could be more fun to play more than just a 3 hour fort/keep window right now.

Diablo 2 Resurrected is in September so that could be fun to dabble with as I never did the expansion. Nothing serious, probably just a normal -> hell play through of it all with a nostalgic Frozen Orb sorc.

Destiny 2 will be clearing my weekly pinnacles, but since this season is a super long slow burn (season lasts till February) not trying to rush anything. Probably skimp on the weekly challenges till later. Also got the new 30th Anni dungeon in December.

Lost Ark comes along in late October/November and I am curious enough to check it out but I am not sure. Heard lots of conflicting information from p2w to really boring daily grind mechanics at cap.

POE new season I’ll probably skip because they fucked the game with this league and will probably take 2-3 leagues to unfuck. Or won’t and I can just keep ignoring it. Easier on my wallet that way as can probably skip the new $500 cosmetics they release towards fall.

Blizz officially said fresh Classic servers are coming. If it’s Classic+, I’m interested, if it’s default Classic, I won’t be. Other than that… Lineage W I will be checking out, because I love the original Lineage. And Corepunk beta hopefully will be up this fall, I’m highly hyped for that.

Still nothing to play… might give New World’s Open beta a shot but I doubt I’ll stick with it for long. It’s mostly PVP centric right? The gameplay just looks cool and I like the setting though, so we’ll see.

Other than that, I tried a bunch of stuff but nothing really sticks.

FFXIV: Endwalker is my plan.
