If we were to transfer MMOs over to the realm of movies and give each an MPAA rating, we’d most likely see a lopsided number of PG and PG-13 titles, with a handful of G games… and an even smaller handful of R-rated entries. There simply aren’t that many MMOs willing to alienate part of its potential audience by venturing into more “mature” territory with blood, sex, and people flipping the toilet paper roll around so that the end is toward the wall.
But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t any adult-themed MMOs. Age of Conan, The Secret World, and Mortal Online II don’t shy away from extra doses of nudity and gore. And has anyone forgotten that Elder Scrolls Online got slapped with an “M” rating, which it carries to this day?
