You aren't going anywhere for a while, right?

I’ve always held fleeting love affairs with digital card games. I played a whole lot of Magic Online back in the day, not to mention long stretches with Hearthstone. There’s something addicting about collecting cards and building exciting decks, as long as I can do it on a budget.

We’ve certainly seen a ton of digital card games over the years, many of which with strong MMO ties. There’s been SOE’s card game spin-offs, HEX, Legends of Runeterra, Artifact, and more. MMOs like FFXIV, Elder Scrolls Online, and Black Desert all have added in-game card duels as a minigame system.

Assuming that you’ve played at least one of these online card games — perhaps even one not mentioned here — I’d love to hear which you consider to be the best and why! What’s your favorite TCG or DCG or CCG or however you like to acronym that?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
