EVE Fanfest 2016: EVE Online’s Citadel trailer, CSM results, and stream

Videos and news bits are trickling in from this year’s EVE Fanfest, where CCP has just shown a video feature tour of the Citadel expansion that launches next week and released the results of the CSM election.

“Feature-rich, player-built structures of epic proportions; deadly new capital superweapons and Citadel doomsday devices; force auxiliary ships to support your capital fleets; over 100 new modules, including anti-subcapital weaponry.”

And a lore video from The Scope about the Imperial succession:

The Amarr championship finals begin tomorrow night at 1 p.m. EDT (17:00 GMT).

And the 11th Council of Stellar Management was announced. Voter turnout was reportedly low compared to previous years.

Stay tuned for more on Citadel and beyond from MOP’s Brendan Drain, who’ll be reporting from Reykyavik, Iceland, itself.

theeknighthood I wouldn’t be so sure. I’ve tested Citadels on the testserver a lot now and they are insanely overpowered to the point where I think CCP will have to nerf them in the near future. We attacked a medium Citadel (which is the smallest one) with dreadnoughts and when we had it in reinforce, 9 Dreadnoughts were down. Another 9 would die when we reinforce the armor and then another 9 for the structure, until the citadel finally pops. We wasted 50 bil ISK to destroy a structure that is worth 800 mil ISK. That’s just out of proportion, just like the drifter incursions that nobody is really capable of running. I can’t see anyone attacking a citadel under these circumstances.

MorpayneRADIO Meh.  The setting is just okay.  The lore has never really been fleshed out all that much, and there’s never been a very strong presence of extraterrestrials or other tropes of epic sci fi.  I think the game is popular because it is one of the only truly sandbox-like MMOs that is left, and there are a lot of interesting mechanics to explore like player built star bases, markets, manufacturing, mining, etc.

I feel like the Eve Universe is wasted on CCP, kinda like what happened with Lucas and Star Wars. There’s so much more to be done with it, truly an amazing sci-fi setting. Easily on par with anything out of Hollywood.

A couple of numbers caught my eye:
Value of all items in the game is 3.07E15 ISK – at $20/Bil PLEX price that is US$61M

1,500,000 million players tried EVE in a year (Which is 10x estimates are perhaps 100-200K people not accounts subscribers.) Half of them lasted under two hours!
