It should be a happy day for ArcheAge and ArcheAge Unchained, as the duo’s latest expansion, Garden of the Gods, is going live. But this game is cursed, you guys, and no matter who’s running it, the game always seems to run into problems. This time, those problems were centered on Gamigo’s decision to charge Unchained players for this expansion, in spite of the game’s original B2P price being predicated on the promise that future expansions would all be free. That was compounded by the fact that Gamigo masked that information for a solid week of press releases until it was finally revealed in Discord.
The latest fiasco hit yesterday, when Gamigo announced that access to the new fresh start servers would be included with the silver expansion pack after all, not just the gold pack, leaving players who’d already paid for the more expensive pack out the difference of $20 just a day before launch.
In any case, the update is live today, and patch notes are up for those so inclined. As we’ve previously covered, Garden of the Gods includes a new zone, new questing content, new raids, and much more.
“Six years in the making, the story of ArcheAge continues in 59 exciting quests to take on. Each one provides another puzzle piece to uncover the secrets of the mythical ArcheAge universe. Players will need to explore lush forests and enchanted groves to complete a variety of tasks. Along the way, they can stop to drink in the breathtaking landscapes and pick the perfect one for improved castle buildings that allow players to build a stately stead for themselves and defend their territory. As a thank you to all the players who embarked on their journey through ArcheAge an adorable Brown Shiba Inu pet is waiting to be claimed in the store for free beginning Thursday. This and much more awaits the players in Garden of the Gods!”
