Welcome the final One Shots column of 2021! As promised, this week we’ll take the briefest of breaks from sharing recent submissions for the sake of handing out awards. This year, I’ve gone through the past 51 weeks of headlining nominees and narrowed it down to five screenshots that earned my deepest respect.
So without further ado, here are the five co-winners of the Best MMO Player Screenshots from 2021. Congratulations!
Lethia, Allods Online
A picture of your own character needs a great background, and Lethia found an amazing one in Allods Online of all places! The eye is drawn from the darkness at the bottom to the ever-increasing light and sky architecture at the top.
Miol, Guild Wars 2
There’s nothing overcomplicated about this picture — but its simplicity allows you to focus on the lovely, pastel-like trails and sky hues involved with this flying mount.
RimaHadley, Final Fantasy XIV
FFXIV players really, really love to show off their characters, and I have to say that Rima did this the best this year with this great outfit and pose. Love the blurred background that makes the character pop, too!
Hikari, DC Universe Online
Everyone loves a good flying picture, but how about one from low Earth orbit? This one captures that “superhero feel” in such a great way, suggesting power and ability in one picture.
Vincent, Final Fantasy XIV
This picture always makes my eyes go on overload with the details and colors (predominantly teal and orange, which is a good combo). Vincent took this of his in-game wedding, and I’m glad we got to share in the moment.
